Fence panels are generally designed with 3 different grades of fence panels. The only difference between the grade is the quality of cedar used on the fence panel. You can opt to use western red cedar or premium cedar which both provide their own unique look and feel. At DJ Fencing there’s no difference in quality of workmanship or installation regardless of the grade because we take care of every customer as if it was our own fence.
The first option or style of cedar fence panels are “clear and tight knot fence panels”. The Cedar wood used to manufacture these panels are made with Clear and Tight knot material. Due to their competitive prices these panels are what you see at your building supply stores such as Home Depot, Rona or Slegg Lumber. These panels are often used for new homes and commercial sites.
Our most popular cedar fence products are the contractor grade fence panels that are made out of tight knot material; however minor defects such as small holes, dry rot are acceptable. These panels are our most popular due to their low pricing and high volume purchases.
The lowest grade panels, which are great for gardens, open yard concepts and are made from fall down lumber. There are no specs on these panels and anything from dry rot to big knotholes can be expected. This type of cedar panel would not be recommended if you want lasting cedar fences that hold up over time.
